Chantilly Lace is named after the city, chantilly in France. This lace is a bobbin lace and dates from the 17th century though most famous are silk lace introduced in the 18th century.      
Though called chantilly lace, most of the lace bearing this name was actually made in Bayeux in France and Geraardsbergen, now in Belgium.     Chantilly lace is known for its fine ground, outlined pattern, and abundant detail. The best chantilly lace was made of silk, and was generally black.

Many designers currently embrace and use it for glamorous wear. Often used as an accompaniment on certain fabrics (western and local) you can't just ignore this lace. It could also be used alone as tops, gowns or used on purses. Chantilly lace even come out well on ankara fabrics.
