Neymar Arrives At Hospital For Foot Surgery

Neymar-BolaEshosBlog

Neymar has arrived at hospital in Brazil for surgery on the injured right foot, which is expected to keep him out for up to for three months.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward checked into the Mater Dei hospital in Belo Horizonte for the procedure on Saturday, which will be led by Brazil national team surgeon Rodrigo Lasmar.

Neymar fractured the fifth metatarsal during PSG's 3-0 defeat of Marseille in Ligue 1 on February 25.
He was stretchered off in tears after he was hurt in a challenge from Bouna Sarr.

The injury immediately ruled the 26-year-old out of Tuesday's Champions League last-16 second leg against Real Madrid and he now faces a battle to regains sharpness ahead of the World Cup.

PSG coach Unai Emery says the club are working hand in hand with Brazil to ensure Neymar has every opportunity to recover as quickly as possible from the operation and prepare properly for the tournament in Russia.

VAR Set To Be Used At This Summer's World Cup

Video assistant referees are set to be used at this year's World Cup in Russia after football's lawmakers voted to approve the technology.

VAR has been trialled in some domestic English cup games this season, and has been used in Germany and Italy.

The International Football Association Board (Ifab) "unanimously approved" its introduction on a permanent basis after a meeting in Zurich on Saturday.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino said a decision on whether VAR will be used to the World Cup will be taken at a meeting on 16 March.
"As of today, video assistant refereeing is part of football," he said.
"We hope and encourage a favourable decision in this respect because we are very positive about VAR."
Ifab is made up of the Football Associations of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well as Fifa.

Each FA has one vote, while world football's governing body has four votes and six are required for a change in the laws.

The decision over VAR was made after they were presented with the results of the independent analysis of the use of the system conducted by Belgian university KU Leuven since March 2016.

"I would say to the fans, players and coaches that it will have an impact, a positive impact," said Infantino. "That is what the results of the study show."

Rafael Nadal-BolaEshosBlog

Rafael Nadal has pulled out of the ATP Masters events in Indian Wells and Miami because of his ongoing hip injury.

The 31-year-old Spaniard withdrew from this week's Acapulco Open in Mexico after a recurrence of the problem.

Nadal also retired hurt from his Australian Open quarter-final against Marin Cilic with the same injury.
"I won't be able to play in Miami or Indian Wells as I need to recover," said the world number two.
"It was very painful to retire from Acapulco and it's very hard as well to not play in the USA.
"Unfortunately, the injury I suffered in Acapulco before starting the tournament is in the same area as the one suffered in Melbourne."
Nadal, who lost his number one ranking to Roger Federer last month, has pulled out of or retired from eight tournaments in a row.

Wilder: I'll Prove I'm The Best

Deontay Wilder-BolaEshosBlog

Deontay Wilder pledged to prove he is the best heavyweight fighter in the world after he weighed in almost two stone lighter than Luis Ortiz for his WBC title defence in Brooklyn.

The 32-year-old American, who has re-iterated in the lead-up his desire to fight Anthony Joshua, will face the unbeaten Cuban southpaw for the seventh defence of his WBC belt in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Wilder, who weighed in at 15st 4lbs 13oz, is expected to face the sternest test of his unbeaten career in his 40th fight but is adamant Ortiz will struggle to cope with his "killer instinct" at the Barclays Center.

Deontay Wilder weighed in almost two stone lighter than Luis Ortiz.

Asked if he expects his most difficult fight, Wilder said: "We will see when we get in the ring. On paper he has looked good against the opposition he has fought against.

"[However] He has never faced a Bronze Bomber, he has never faced a guy who has got more killer instinct than him.

"He has never faced a guy that just really wants to rip his head off him and I really do want to put him down. I am the best and I am ready to show it come Saturday night that I am the best in the world."
