Man City One Win From Title After Defeating Everton

Manchester City will win the Premier League if they beat arch-rivals Manchester United in the derby at Etihad Stadium next Saturday after the easiest of victories at Everton.

Manager Pep Guardiola had failed to record a victory against Everton in three matches before this visit to Goodison Park - but this result was never in doubt from the moment Leroy Sane volleyed home David Silva's cross after four minutes.

Everton barely mounted even token resistance and City had effectively restored their 16-point advantage at the top of the table by half-time after Gabriel Jesus headed in Kevin de Bruyne's cross and Raheem Sterling applied a simple finish to another Silva delivery.

Yannick Bolasie pulled a goal back for Everton after the break when he fired in via a post from 20 yards but this was a minor interruption to City's serene progress and they now have the opportunity to reclaim the title in circumstances they will relish when Jose Mourinho brings his Manchester United side to Etihad Stadium.

Ibrahimovic Scores 35-Yard Screamer & Late Winner On His LA Galaxy Debut

Zlatan Ibrahimovic marked his LA Galaxy debut with a match-winning cameo as his side came from 3-0 down to beat new boys Los Angeles FC.
The 36-year-old, stealing the show once more, came on with 20 minutes left and scored a remarkable equaliser from 35 yards before heading in a stoppage-time winner.
"I heard the crowd saying 'We want Zlatan, we want Zlatan,' he said.
"So I gave them Zlatan. They were pushing me, and I was giving back."
Galaxy had pulled a goal back before Ibrahimovic was sent on in the 71st minute. And, after he was involved in the build-up for Chris Pontius' header, the Swede struck.

There did not appear to be any immediate danger as an LA FC goal-kick was nodded back upfield but the former Manchester United forward crashed an unstoppable shot on the bounce over the head of goalkeeper Tyler Miller.

And Ibrahimovic scored the winner in stoppage time, nodding in at the near post from what might have been an offside position.

Stephens Beats Ostapenko To Win Miami Title

US Open champion Sloane Stephens beat Latvian Jelena Ostapenko 7-6 (7-5) 6-1 to win her first Miami Open title.

American Stephens looked tense at the start and there were eight breaks of serve in the first set before the home favourite prevailed in the tie-break.
The 25-year-old world number 12 relied heavily on her defence before putting her foot on the gas in the second set.

World number five Ostapenko, 20, was left to rue an unforced error count of 48 which cost her a first win in Miami.Having lost eight matches in a row following her US Open triumph, Stephens has now responded to that slump with a sixth WTA title that will move her into the world top 10 for the first time when the rankings are released on Monday.

Joshua Defeats Parker On Points

Anthony Joshua completed a composed points win over Joseph Parker as he was taken the distance for the first time in the unification clash in Cardiff.

The British heavyweight star added the WBO belt to his IBF and WBA 'super' titles as he produced a disciplined display against the rugged Parker to earn a wide unanimous decision with scores of 118-110, 118-110 and 119-109 at the Principality Stadium.

Joshua's perfect run of 20 knockouts was ended by Parker, who retained his reputation for toughness, but AJ moved one belt away from becoming the undisputed champion.

Parker was escorted by Samoan chiefs as he arrived for the biggest battle of a 24-fight career, followed by the home favourite Joshua, whose white robe was lit up by pyrotechnics while he strolled confidently towards his 21st opponent.
