Ronaldo makes winning start in Juventus debut

Cristiano Ronaldo made a winning start to his Juventus career as his new club came from behind to beat Chievo 3-2 in a dramatic start to the Serie A season.

Federico Bernardeschi scored a 93rd-minute winner, moments after Juve had a goal ruled out by VAR with Ronaldo at the centre of the incident.

The Portugal captain, a £99.2m signing from Real Madrid, handled the ball before colliding with Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino in the build-up to Mario Mandzukic's goal, which referee Fabrizio Pasqua ruled out on review.

Sami Khedira had put Juventus, who have won the past seven Serie A titles, ahead from close range in the third minute, before Mariusz Stepinski headed in the equaliser.

Emanuele Giaccherini won and scored a penalty to put Chievo in front on 56 minutes, but a Mattia Bani own goal pegged them back before Bernardeschi struck late on.

Ronaldo forced several saves from the Chievo goalkeeper, who left the match on a stretcher after his late collision with the Portuguese.

Chelsea pip Arsenal in thriller

Marcos Alonso's late strike settled a chaotic Premier League classic in Chelsea's favour after Arsenal fought back from two goals down and threatened to earn a point at Stamford Bridge.

But, despite the victory, coach Maurizio Sarri said he did not believe his players were ready to challenge for Manchester City's title.

"I enjoyed the match for 75 minutes," he said. "The other 15 minutes it was better to smoke, I think. It was a wonderful match for everybody but those 15 minutes were horrible.

"At the moment we are not ready. We need to improve and I hope that, in two months' time, we will be able to play 90 minutes like we did in the first 25 today."

Sarri's side had built a two-goal advantage inside the first 20 minutes as Pedro turned in Alonso's cross and Alvaro Morata added another seconds after Arsenal's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang shot over from close range.

Aubameyang and Iwobi missed further chances before half-time and Chelsea controlled the second half, Alonso sweeping in substitute Eden Hazard's cross nine minutes from time to make it successive wins for Sarri and two defeats for new Arsenal manager Unai Emery.

Fury to face Wilder after Pianeta win

Tyson Fury vowed to knock out WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder as their bout was confirmed in the aftermath of the English fighter's dominant win over Francesco Pianeta.

The pair exchanged words as Fury's promoter Frank Warren said the bout was "official" and added more details would be made public in the next week.
Wilder said Fury would "experience" being knocked out for the first time.

Fury, 30, won all 10 rounds to secure a points win over Pianeta in Belfast.
"One thing I promise when I go to Las Vegas is I am knocking you out," he told Wilder, 32.
The American, who was holding his belt as the pair took turns on the microphone at Windsor Park, responded: "He has never had the WBC belt. If he even thinks about that belt, he better wake up and apologise to me as he will never have this."

The prospect of a bout between the two seemed close in January 2016 when they clashed in the ring following Wilder's victory over Poland's Artur Szpilka.

But Fury did not fight again until June this year, and taking on such a formidable opponent so quickly after his time away seemed unlikely until talks gathered momentum in recent weeks.

Fury, who showed sharp movement and focus throughout his win over Pianeta, has secured the fight after drawn-out - and ultimately unsuccessful - negotiations between Wilder and WBA, IBF and WBO champion Anthony Joshua.
"We have two men who will fight anyone," added Fury. "This man has been trying to make a fight with another chump.

Kenya's Bett suspended after missed test

Kenyan middle-distance runner Kipyegon Bett has been provisionally suspended from competition for "refusing or failing to submit" to a drugs test.

The 20-year-old, who won bronze over 800m at last year's World Championships in London, will not be able to compete until a hearing has been conducted.
The action was brought by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

The body replaced world governing body the IAAF's former anti-doping department in April 2017.

In July, the AIU released details of 120 cases to protect the sport's "integrity and reputation" and for increased "transparency".

Kenyan marathon runner Samuel Kalalei and compatriot Lucy Kabuu are currently on the list for those facing hearings after both tested positive for a prohibited substance.

The AIU says it will make public every stage of the process of dealing with doping tests going forward rather than only publish details when proceedings are complete.
