BEB Weekend Sports: Update!

Ronaldo scores 600th club goal in Juventus draw

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the 600th club goal of his career as Serie A champions Juventus drew with Inter Milan.

Ronaldo's low strike, following a back-heel from team-mate Miralem Pjanic, brought Juventus level at the San Siro.

Radja Nainggolan had given the hosts the lead with a spectacular 25-yard volley after Matteo Politano's flick.

Ronaldo has now scored 27 goals for Juventus after five for Sporting Lisbon, 118 at Manchester United and 450 for Real Madrid.

His 600th career club goal came on the same day as Lionel Messi scored his 598th Barcelona goal, during their match against Levante.

Juventus may well have already won Italy's Serie A title but that did not stop Inter fans from mocking their rivals.

Before Saturday's game, Inter fans held up a mosaic that spelled out 'game over', a reference to Juventus' shock 3-2 aggregate loss to Ajax in the quarter-finals of the Champions League earlier this month.

Nainggolan continued the party mood with a stunning volley to give Inter a first-half lead, but Juventus had the last laugh with Ronaldo's 62nd-minute equaliser.

Juventus, who clinched the Serie A title with a 2-1 win over Fiorentina on 20 April, now hold a 21-point lead over second-placed Napoli.

Barcelona beat Levante to win La Liga

Barcelona wrapped up their 26th La Liga title with a sluggish victory over Levante thanks to a goal from second-half substitute Lionel Messi.

Ahead of Wednesday's Champions League semi-final first leg with Liverpool, Messi began the game on the bench.

The Argentina forward came on at the interval following a goalless first half and scored just after the hour.

He latched on to Arturo Vidal's header and beat two defenders before stroking the ball past Aitor Fernandez.

Barcelona did not have everything their own way and Levante almost spoiled the party when they twice went close to equalising in the second half.
Jose Luis Morales broke clear on the left edge on the edge of the box only to fire into the stands.

Then at the death Enis Bardhi's shot hit the woodwork and it bounced into the hands of Barca goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen on the line.

Such has been Barcelona's recent La Liga dominance - this is their fourth Spanish title in five years and Messi's 10th overall - that determining whether this season will be heralded as a glorious one, or simply a good one, will depend on their performance in other competitions.

Farah targets 'amazing' win over Kipchoge

Four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah says it would be an "amazing achievement" to topple Eliud Kipchoge at Sunday's London Marathon.
Kenyan Kipchoge set the world record of two hours one minute 39 seconds in Berlin in September - three and a half minutes faster than Farah's best - and has three of the top 10 marathon times.
"Eliud is a great athlete and the world record holder," said the Briton, 36.
"I'm going to go out there and give it my best."
Farah's final preparations for the race have coincided with an extraordinary row with Ethiopian long-distance great Haile Gebrselassie.

Farah alleged that he had thousands of pounds stolen while staying at a hotel owned by Gebrselassie, who responded by revealing that
Farah was involved in a physical fight with another guest.

He also said that the two's relationship deteriorated after he barred Farah from bringing Jama Aden, a coach who was arrested as part of an anti-doping operation in Spain in 2016, to the hotel.
Farah denies the latter claim.

While Farah and Kipchoge fight it out at the sharp end, around 40,000 others will be pounding the streets of London behind them.

"This weekend we will reach one billion pounds raised for charity by runners, with more than half of that coming in the last nine years," said race director Hugh Brasher.

Nadal denied chance to extend own record

Rafael Nadal's hopes of extending his own record by winning an ATP tournament for the 12th time were ended when he was beaten by Dominic Thiem in the Barcelona Open semi-finals.

Nadal has triumphed in Barcelona 11 times, a mark he has also hit at the French Open and Monte Carlo Masters.

But his hopes of adding to his record ended in a 6-4 6-4 loss to Thiem, who he beat in the 2017 Barcelona final.

The Austrian will meet 23-year-old Daniil Medvedev in Sunday's final.

Had Nadal won against Thiem he would have had the opportunity to match Martina Navratilova's professional tournament record of winning 12 times at the now-defunct Avon Championships of Chicago.

The 32-year-old had appeared on course to win the Barcelona Open for the fourth time in succession - he went into the match having won 46 of the 47 sets he had played in the tournament's final two rounds.

Instead 25-year-old Thiem, who lost to Nadal in a one-sided French Open final last year, will have the opportunity to win a second title of the year having beaten Roger Federer in the final at Indian Wells last month.
