Barcelona sign Griezmann from Atletico

Barcelona have signed France forward Antoine Griezmann from La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid after paying his 120m euro (£107m) buyout clause.

The 28-year-old World Cup winner has signed a five-year deal which includes an 800m euro (£717m) release clause.

He signed a new five-year deal in June 2018, but announced in May he would be leaving the club this summer.

Atletico have been unhappy about Barcelona's approach for the player and say 120m euros is "insufficient".

Shortly after Barcelona announced the signing on Friday, Atletico responded by saying his buyout clause should have been 200m euros (£179m) - the value at the time they believe Griezmann and Barcelona began negotiating.

His release clause dropped from 200m euros to 120m euros on 1 July.

"Griezmann, represented by his lawyer, has appeared at the headquarters of the Professional Football League to unilaterally terminate the contract that links the player with Atletico," they said in a statement.

Griezmann is now the the world's sixth most expensive signing behind Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Philippe Coutinho, Joao Felix and Ousmane Dembele.

I'm waiting for right club says Mourinho

Jose Mourinho is "hungry" to return to football management, but says he is patiently waiting for "the right club".

Mourinho, 56, has been out of a job since being sacked by Manchester United in December.
"I am hungry to get back, but I will wait for the right club, for the right project," he told Sky Sports News at Silverstone ahead of Sunday's British Grand Prix.
"And, in the meantime, I am doing things I like to do. I prefer to work, but I like other sports and this is a good opportunity to enjoy."
Mourinho was also asked about his former player Frank Lampard taking over at Chelsea - where he spent five years as head coach over two spells - but refused to comment.

The ex-Porto, Inter Milan and Real Madrid head coach declined an £88m contract - the biggest managerial offer in world football - to manage a club in China.

Halep beats Williams in less than an hour to win Wimbledon

Simona Halep won her first Wimbledon title and crushed Serena Williams' latest bid for a record-equalling 24th Grand Slam success with a devastating 56-minute display of athleticism.

The Romanian won 6-2 6-2 in front of an incredulous Centre Court, running after everything the American threw at her.

"It was my best match," the 27-year-old said after her second Grand Slam title following her 2018 French Open success.

For 37-year-old Williams, it was a third major final defeat in 12 months.
"She played out of her mind, it was a little bit deer in the headlights for me," she said.
Halep shows no nerves as expectation weighs on Williams.

Williams, like in last year's final defeat by Angelique Kerber, seemed weighed down by public and personal expectations as she quickly fell 4-0 behind in the opening set.

Halep had said beforehand that she had no pressure on her and that is exactly how she played.

From the outset she looked relaxed and confident, attacking the Williams serve and keeping the rallies long and deep to force the American into errors.

While Williams closed her eyes at changeovers to try to regroup, Halep kept her eyes on the prize and kept her cool to take the victory on her second match point, when the American sent a forehand into the net.

Halep's level never dropped in an almost perfect display in which she made just three unforced errors to Williams' 26.
"I knew that I have to be aggressive, be 100% for every ball, and that I don't have to let her come back into the match because she's so powerful and so strong," Halep said. "She knows how to manage every moment. So I knew that I have to stay there, which I did pretty well today."
Defeat means Williams' wait for a first Grand Slam title since becoming a mum continues, as does her pursuit of an eighth Wimbledon singles title.

Khan wants Pacquiao after beating Dib in Saudi Arabia

Britain's Amir Khan claimed the WBC international welterweight title with a fourth-round stoppage of Australian Billy Dib in Saudi Arabia.

Khan floored Dib in the second round with a fierce left hook at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
A rapid combination of punches then saw Dib fall to the canvas again, prompting his corner to throw in the towel.

After the fight, Khan said he wanted to face former multiple-weight world champion Manny Pacquiao next.

Dib only took the fight in June after Khan's original opponent Neeraj Goyat withdrew after being injured in a car crash.

It was an explosive display by Khan, who was looking to bounce back from his controversial defeat by WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford in April, which saw him accused of "quitting" after his corner pulled him out following a low blow from the American in the sixth round.

After flooring Dib with a counter left hook in the second, another left hook in the third saw the Australian shaken but able to stay on his feet.

There would be no escape in the fourth, though, as a double left hook followed up by a rapid combination saw Dib go down again and prompt the towel to be thrown.

The Sydney-born fighter, who has held a world title at featherweight, moved up to make his welterweight debut having only been confirmed as Khan's opponent last month.

He described the opportunity as his "real-life Rocky moment", but was unable to cope with Khan's superior speed and power.

Having disposed of the Australian, Khan told TalkSport, "We want the Manny Pacquiao fight, let's hope he comes to Saudi Arabia.
