She was born on March 1st in Mexico City and hails from Kenya. She studied at Hampshire College with a Bachelor's Degree in Film and Theatre Studies and had her Masters Degree in Acting from Yale University.
In 2008, she made her acting debut with the short film, "East River" and starred in the Tv Series "Shuga". ln 2009, she wrote, produced and directed the documentary, "In My Genes".
She has featured in many award winning blockbuster movies like, "12 Years A Slave", "Queen Of Katwe" and "Black Panther" still in Cinemas worldwide.
