England defeat Nigeria in World Cup warm-up

England kept their unbeaten record against Nigeria intact after they edged the three - time African champions 2 - 1 in a 2018 World Cup warm - up friendly at Wembley on Saturday.

Gary Cahill, who was named Man - of -the - Match, grabbed the Three Lions opener when he nodded in Kieran Trippier’s corner in the seventh minute, before captain Harry Kane’s grounder beat Francis Uzoho, in goal for the Super Eagles, to make it 2 - 0 for the hosts.

But Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi reduced the deficit with a clinical finish just two minutes after the break.

Coach Gernot Rohr brought on John Ogu, Oghenekaro Etebo , Kenneth Omeruo and Tyronne Ebuehi , with Onazi , Shehu Abdullahi , Joel Obi and Leon Balogun making way.

The changes worked as the visitors came back strongly in the second half, however, it was too little too late, as the hosts recorded their second win in three outings against Nigeria.

Zidane Quits Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane has quit as Real Madrid manager just days after becoming the first coach to win the Champions League in three consecutive seasons.

Zidane, 45, replaced Rafael Benitez in January 2016 and despite his European success has come under pressure for winning only one La Liga title during his two and a half years in charge.

He told Real president Florentino Perez he would be leaving on Wednesday before informing captain Sergio Ramos.

"I know it is a strange moment for everyone involved," said Zidane. "But it had to be done for everybody.

The players have nothing to do with my decision, it is about what I think.Perez said Zidane's decision was completely unexpected after the club's 13th Champions League title last weekend.
"It is a sad day for me and will be for the fans, the players and everyone at the club," said Perez.
"I wanted him to be next to me forever. But I know it is his final decision.
"I would have liked to convince him to stay on but I know what he is like."Zidane, who was applauded by journalists in Spain as he left his news conference, denied his decision has anything to do with a Ronaldo 'crisis'.

Nadal Outclasses Gasquet

Rafael Nadal continued his march towards a record-extending 11th French Open title with an authoritative straight-sets victory against Richard Gasquet.

The defending champion at Roland Garros came into the meeting with a perfect record against the French player from their previous encounters and made it 16 wins in total with a 6-3 6-2 6-2 victory.

Nadal, who is yet to lose a set from his opening three rounds, will next face Maximilian Marterer after the German had earlier defeated lucky loser Jurgen Zopp 6-2 6-1 6-4.

Nadal extended his run of consecutive straight-set wins at Roland Garros to 34. Only Sweden's six-time champion Bjorn Borg, who won 41 consecutive sets on the Paris clay from 1979-81, has recorded a longer streak at the tournament.
"I played very well, I'm sorry for Richard, he is a good friend and a good person," said Nadal.
The overwhelming favourite in the men's draw began the match in emphatic fashion as he won the first 12 points of the match on his way to opening up a 5-0 lead.

I must Beat Joshua & Wilder To Become A Legend - Fury

Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury says he will need to beat Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder to be considered a legend.

Briton Joshua, 28, is the reigning WBA, IBF and WBO champion, while 32-year-old American Wilder holds the WBC crown.
"I have to beat both of them in order for my career to be defined, and to be looked back at as a legendary champion," Fury told reporters.
He faces Albania's Sefer Seferi in his comeback fight on 9 June in Manchester.

Fury, 29, has not fought since claiming the IBF, WBA and WBO titles from Wladimir Klitschko in November 2015.

The Manchester-born fighter, who is unbeaten in 25 fights, said he will "expose" Wilder and Joshua "not as useless or they can't fight, but just lesser people than me in a boxing ring".
"Whatever they bring, I can adapt," he added. "I don't think they'll land on me."
