Iwobi signs 'long-term' deal at Arsenal

Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi has signed a new "long-term" deal with the club, reportedly until 2023.

The 22-year-old Nigeria international has played 98 games, scoring nine goals, since making his debut in 2015.
"From young, it has always been my dream to represent Arsenal," said Iwobi. "It feels so special.
The first kit I had was of Arsenal and long may I continue to represent them."

Boss Unai Emery said:
"I'm very pleased Alex has signed a new contract."
He added: "He is a great example of a player who can succeed from the academy through hard work and I look forward to working with him and our other talented young players in the squad."

Iwobi joins defender Calum Chambers and midfielder Granit Xhaka in signing new deals with the club this summer.

Alisson marks Reds debut with clean sheet

Alisson marked his Liverpool debut with a clean sheet as the Reds thrashed Napoli 5-0 in a friendly in Dublin.

Liverpool made the Brazil number one the world's most expensive goalkeeper when they agreed a deal with Roma last month worth up to £66.8m (72.5m euros).

Alisson only had one serious save to make when he turned away Lorenzo Insigne's first-half attempt.

Liverpool scored through James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, Mohamed Salah, Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno.

Liverpool entertain Italian side Torino at Anfield on Tuesday before they open their Premier League campaign at home to West Ham on 12 August.

Williams pulls out of Rogers Cup for personal reasons

Serena Williams has withdrawn from next week's Rogers Cup in Canada for personal reasons.

The American 23-time Grand Slam singles champion was beaten 6-1 6-0 by Briton Johanna Konta at the most recent Silicon Valley Classic event - the worst defeat of her career.
"We are disappointed Serena will not be joining us," said tournament director Eugene Lapierre.
"Fans were very much looking forward to seeing her in action."
German Tatjana Maria will now get a wildcard spot in the main draw and faces Alize Cornet of France in the first round.
"Beyond the disappointment, the tournament as a whole remains a high-level competition," Lapierre added.
"The entire top 10 is here, along with 22 of the top 25. There are exciting matches in store from the outset."

Spain's Marin wins historic third world title

Spain's Carolina Marin has become the first woman to win three World Badminton Championships singles titles with victory over India's PV Sindhu.

The 25-year-old seventh seed won 21-19 21-10 in Nanjing, China, to add to her 2015 and 2014 titles.
It was a repeat of the 2016 Olympic final, which Marin also won.

World number three Sindhu, 23, was runner-up at the World Championships in Glasgow last year and the Commonwealth Games in Australia earlier this year.
