Parma stun Inter - thanks to player on loan from San Siro side

Inter Milan's poor start to the season continued as Federico Dimarco scored a brilliant winner for Parma against his parent club at the San Siro.

The 20-year-old, on loan from Inter, won the ball in midfield and smashed a 25-yard strike into the top corner.

The goal was the full-back's first in Serie A and gives Parma their first win since returning to the top flight.

Inter, who play Tottenham in the Champions League on Tuesday, have only won one of four matches this season.

Dimarco came through the youth teams at Inter before he was loaned to Ascoli and Empoli and sold to Swiss club Sion.

Inter re-signed the left-back in July but loaned him to Parma the following month.

He also prevented his parent club taking the lead just before the hour when he cleared Ivan Perisic's effort off the line.

Inter, tipped as one of the favourites for the Serie A title, have just four points from four matches this season.

Barcelona come from behind to maintain 100% start

Barcelona scored two goals in three second-half minutes to come from behind and beat Real Sociedad to maintain their 100% start to the La Liga season.

The champions trailed after 12 minutes when they failed to clear a free-kick and Aritz Elustondo lashed in.

But Luis Suarez scrambled the ball home in the 63rd minute before Ousmane Dembele converted at another corner.

La Real could have been further in front but missed three chances shortly before the Barcelona goals.
Barca goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen made two fine saves, denying Real Madrid loanee Theo Hernandez and Juanmi while Mikel Oyarzabal blazed over at the end of a quick counter-attack.

The hosts, playing at their newly renovated Anoeta stadium for the first time, could have grabbed a point late on but Juanmi headed narrowly wide from inside the area.

Barcelona were poor in the first half and also capitalised on goalkeeping errors for both goals with Geronimo Rulli missing punches at both set pieces.

The win for Ernesto Valverde's side is their fourth from four games this season and keeps them top of the table.

Alvarez defeats Golovkin in brutal showdown

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez won the WBA and WBC middleweight titles by inflicting a first career defeat on Gennady Golovkin with a majority decision in a brutal showdown.

The Las Vegas fight came nearly a year to the day since a split-decision draw left the Kazakh boxer stunned.

The defeat was Golovkin's first in 40 fights, with two judges scoring the fight 115-113 in favour of Canelo and the third had it at 114-114.

The pair went blow for blow in the highly anticipated bout at the T-Mobile Arena, Canelo controlling the pace but Golovkin better with the jab in the early stages.

Canelo got in some strong bodywork in the second half of the fight but, into the 12th round, it was the champion who was pushing harder, landing a left hook and uppercut.

The Mexican's strong chin and even stronger resolve saw him go the distance and then take the three straps as Golovkin tasted defeat for the first time in 40 fights.

Alvarez, speaking in the aftermath of his narrow victory, did not shy away from the possibility of another clash with 'GGG'.

Golovkin told reporters afterwards: "I'm not going to say who won tonight, because the victory belongs to Canelo according to the judges. I thought I fought better than he did. We would like to have a third fight, we will negotiate that, that's what we want."

France beat Spain to reach Davis Cup final

Defending champions France secured their place in the Davis Cup final as they took an unassailable 3-0 lead over Spain in the semi-final in Lille.

Julien Benneteau and Nicholas Mahut beat Marcel Granollers and Feliciano Lopez 6-0 6-4 7-6 (9-7) to wrap up the best-of-five tie.

Benneteau retired from playing after the US Open but returned to help France reach their ninth final.
They will face either Croatia or United States in the final in November.

Croatia lead the tie 2-1 after America's Mike Bryan and Ryan Harrison beat Ivan Dodig and Mate Pavic 7-5 7-6 (8-6) 1-6 6-7 (5-7) 7-6 (7-5) in the doubles.
Benneteau and Mahut are unbeaten in Davis Cup rubbers, and took just 18 minutes to clinch the opening set.

Despite trailing 4-1 in the third set, they fought back to force a tie-break before Benneteau produced a backhand service return to ensure victory.
