Huddersfield suffer joint earliest Premier League relegation

Huddersfield equalled the record for the earliest relegation in a Premier League season as second-half goals from Luka Milivojevic and Patrick van Aanholt earned Crystal Palace all three points at Selhurst Park.

The Terriers' defeat, combined with victories for Burnley and Southampton, confirmed the visitors' demotion back to the Championship.

Huddersfield, who have propped up the table since December, join Derby County and Ipswich Town as the only teams in Premier League history to be relegated with six games left to play.

Milivojevic opened the scoring in the second half, sending Ben Hamer the wrong way from the penalty spot after Wilfried Zaha had been fouled by Juninho Bacuna.

Patrick van Aanholt's composed finish secured a valuable victory for Palace, who move eight points clear of the bottom three.

Huddersfield spurned several chances to open the scoring, but they failed to make the most of those opportunities as their two-year stay in the Premier League came to an end.

I like Pogba a lot - Real boss Zidane

Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane says he likes Manchester United's Paul Pogba "a lot" and that the midfielder "knows how to do everything on the pitch".

Pogba, 26, has been linked with the Spanish giants and described Real as "a dream club for every player" while on international duty with France.
"I know him personally," said former France captain Zidane before Real's La Liga match against Huesca on Sunday.
"He brings so much and there are few players who bring as much as he does."
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replaced the sacked Mourinho in December and Pogba's form has since improved, with the 2018 World Cup winner scoring nine times under the Norwegian.
"He's a midfielder who knows how to defend and how to attack," added Zidane, who returned to Real Madrid on 11 March less than 10 months after leaving the Bernabeu.
"But he is not my player, he is at Manchester.
"He has always said that, after Manchester, Madrid has always interested him. So when his experience at Manchester ends, why not come here to Madrid?"

Ferrari's Leclerc takes maiden pole in Bahrain

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc beat team-mate Sebastian Vettel to take his maiden pole position at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

The Monegasque, 21, beat the four-time world champion by 0.294 seconds as Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas took third and fourth for Mercedes.
Leclerc was fastest in all three parts of qualifying, a powerful statement of intent.

Hamilton was 0.324secs behind, pipping Bottas by just 0.66secs.

Leclerc said: "I am truly happy. In the last race I was not satisfied with my qualifying and I worked really hard to do better.
"Seb is an amazing driver and I have learned a lot from him and I will learn from him all year. But today is a good day for me."
Vettel, who had only one run in final qualifying, said: "Charles did a very good job today and he deserves to be on pole. I felt happy with my only run and we are in a good place for the race."

Leclerc's switch to Ferrari this year, as a replacement for Kimi Raikkonen, was highly anticipated as he has talent in abundance.

Federer to meet Isner in Miami final

Roger Federer continued his fine form on the American hard courts to beat Canadian teenager Denis Shapovalov and reach the Miami Open final.
The 37-year-old Swiss, who lost in the Indian Wells final to Dominic Thiem, won 6-2 6-4 to reach back-to-back ATP Masters 1000 finals.

Federer will meet defending champion John Isner for the title on Sunday.

Isner, 33, reached another Miami final by ending Canadian teenager Felix Auger-Aliassime's historic run.

The American edged out his 18-year-old opponent, who was playing in his first Masters semi-final, in a 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-4) victory.

Federer ensured he reached his fifth Miami Open final by beating 19-year-old Shapovalov, who was not even born when the 20-time Grand Slam winner made his debut at the Florida tournament in March 1999.
