Ribery to leave Bayern at end of season

Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery will leave the club when his contract with them expires in the summer.

The 36-year-old Frenchman joined Bayern for £17m from Marseille in June 2007 and will leave,
along with Dutch winger Arjen Robben, at the end of the season.
"Bayern owes a lot to both of them and we will give them a wonderful and emotional farewell," said Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
"They've helped shape Bayern's most successful decade."
Bayern will play a testimonial match for Ribery and Robben in 2020.

Ribery has won the Bundesliga eight times with Bayern and is set to add another title to his collection, with the club four points ahead of second-placed Borussia Dortmund going into the final two games of the season.

Bayern will also play RB Leipzig in the final of the German Cup.
"I don't have a concrete plan for next season yet," said Ribery, who also won the 2013 Champions League with the Bavarians.
"I'm not sure where I can go to play football. I will keep playing but nothing is 100% certain yet."

Late Origi winner ensures Liverpool take title race to final day

Divock Origi's late winner sent Liverpool top of the Premier League with victory at Newcastle United to put the pressure back on Manchester City and ensure the title race will go to the final game.

Origi - on as substitute for Mohamed Salah after he was taken off on a stretcher with a head injury sustained in a collision with Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka - headed in Xherdan Shaqiri's free-kick in the 86th minute.

It gave Liverpool three points after a topsy-turvy night on Tyneside.

Now Manchester City must beat Leicester City at Etihad Stadium on Monday to ensure they retain the initiative going into the final round of games next Sunday.

Liverpool went ahead after 13 minutes when Virgil van Dijk arrived unmarked on the end of Trent Alexander-Arnold's free-kick.

Newcastle were quickly level when Christian Atsu scored from close range after Alexander-Arnold handled Salomon Rondon's shot on the line but Salah took advantage of more poor marking to volley home another fine delivery from the young defender.

Rondon, a handful all night, drew Newcastle level once more nine minutes after the break when Liverpool failed to clear a corner and Jurgen Klopp's side suffered another blow when Salah was taken off after a lengthy delay.

Origi was introduced and made the decisive contribution that keeps the title race alive - although Salah's injury is a worry with Liverpool attempting to claw back a 3-0 deficit against Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final second leg at Anfield on Tuesday.

'No human can stop me from running' - Semenya defiant after Doha win

Caster Semenya said "no human can stop me from running" after winning the 800m at the Doha Diamond League meet amid speculation over her future.

It comes just two days after the South African, 28,
lost a landmark case against athletics' governing body.

Semenya challenged IAAF rules designed to limit testosterone levels in female runners but the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) rejected her appeal.
"Actions speak louder than words," Semenya told BBC Sport.
"When you are a great champion, you always deliver.
"It's up to God. God has decided my life, God will end my life; God has decided my career, God will end my career. No man, or any other human, can stop me from running."
The Doha meet was Semenya's final race before the IAAF's new rules come into force on 8 May.

Ruiz Jr set to face Joshua in New York

Unified world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is set to face Andy Ruiz Jr in New York on 1 June.

Joshua, 29, was due to face Jarrell Miller at Madison Square Garden but the American failed drug tests, forcing him out of the Madison Square Garden bout.

California-born Ruiz, 29, has fought for a world title once before and is likely to be confirmed as Joshua's opponent for his US debut on Tuesday.

Promoter Eddie Hearn says Ruiz will "do anything" to become world champion.
"He will entertain you, give it his all. Even if it means getting sensationally knocked out, he will rather do that than not do it," Hearn told Fighthype.com.
"I couldn't afford a guy who I thought may not be good enough or game enough to entertain the fans. I had to pick a guy in my heart who I thought will do everything to become world heavyweight champion at the Garden."
Ruiz has agreed to terms, leaving only small details to be finalised, with Hearn stating the fight was "close".

Ruiz beat Germany's Alexander Dimitrenko on 20 April, weighing in at 262lbs, which is 17lbs heavier than Joshua in his last win over Alexander Povetkin in September.

At 6ft 2in, he is four inches shorter than Joshua and will be at a substantial reach disadvantage.

In his only world title shot to date, Ruiz lost on points to New Zealand's Joseph Parker, whom Joshua outpointed 15 months later to unify the WBA, IBF and WBO world titles.
