Marcus Rashford becomes MBE

England and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has become an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.

The footballer, 22, campaigned for the government to allow about 1.3 million children to claim free school meal vouchers in England's summer holidays during the coronavirus pandemic.

Rashford, who has asked Prime Minister Boris Johnson to extend that scheme, said the MBE was a "nice moment".

The Queen's Birthday Honours list was originally scheduled to be published in June, but it was postponed by the prime minister to allow nominations of people who played crucial roles during the first months of the coronavirus pandemic.

Germany claim first Nations League win

Germany claimed a first Nations League win with victory over Ukraine in a game where around 20,000 fans were allowed to attend Kyiv's Olympic Stadium.
Joachim Low's side had not won any of their six fixtures in the competition prior to Saturday's Group A4 match.
They took the lead when Matthias Ginter stabbed in before Leon Goretzka headed home after an error by goalkeeper Georgiy Bushchan.
A Ruslan Malinovskyi penalty set up a tense finale but Germany held on.
Germany, who did not win a game in their inaugural Nations League campaign two years ago, now have five points from three games in the 2020-21 edition of the competition.
Fans were let in to watch this game after local health authorities allowed the 70,000-capacity Olympic Stadium to be filled by up to 30%.

Swiatek wins French Open

Polish teenager Iga Swiatek completed a stunning rise by becoming the lowest-ranked woman to win the French Open after beating American Sofia Kenin.
Swiatek, 19, is a former junior Wimbledon champion but the world number 54's rise to Roland Garros history has been swift and surprising.
She showed few nerves to beat fourth seed Kenin 6-4 6-1, lifting the trophy without losing a set in the tournament.
"I don't know what is going on, I'm so happy," a smiling Swiatek said.
Swiatek is the first player from Poland to win a Grand Slam singles title.
She is the youngest French Open women's champion since Monica Seles lifted the Coupe Suzanne Lenglen in 1992.
"It is crazy. Two years ago I won a junior Grand Slam and now I'm here," added Swiatek, who was laughing before her voice cracked with emotion.
"It feels like such a short time. I'm so overwhelmed."
Swiatek dropped to her haunches and cupped her mouth in disbelief after cracking a forehand winner on her first match point.
After asking the umpire for permission, she ran across Court Philippe Chatrier to find her nearest and dearest, eventually being pointed in the right direction to run up to her support team and family in the players' box.

Tokyo Marathon 2021 event rescheduled to October over coronavirus concerns

Next year's Tokyo Marathon has been rescheduled from 7 March to 17 October because of continuing concerns around the coronavirus crisis.
Around 38,000 runners are set to take part in the race but restricted entry into Japan and rules around big events has seen the race pushed back.
The pandemic forced the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to be postponed by a year.
The Games are set to start on 23 July, 2021, and last month organisers said they had to go ahead "at any cost".
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has also said the Games will go ahead next year "with or without Covid".
However, earlier in the year, IOC president Thomas Bach said he understood why Japan may want to cancel the Olympics.
His comments came after Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe admitted it may be "difficult" to stage the Games if the country does not successfully contain the virus, and the head of the Japan Medical Association suggested it depended on finding a vaccine.
Tokyo is host to one of the six World Marathon Majors along with Boston, Berlin, Chicago, New York and London.
The 2020 event in the Japanese capital took place on 1 March and was an elite-only event, as was last weekend's London Marathon, which was held around St James's Park.
However, this year's races in Boston, Berlin, Chicago and New York were all cancelled.
