Man City go seven points clear after Spurs win

Manchester City extended their winning run to 15 games and their lead at the top of the Premier League to seven points as they easily defeated Tottenham at Etihad Stadium.

Ilkay Gundogan scored twice after Rodri had put City ahead from the penalty spot midway through the opening period.

Raheem Sterling might have had another late on as City strengthened their grip at the summit, where they also have a game in hand over second-placed Leicester.

It was a chastening night for Tottenham and their manager Jose Mourinho.

When they won the first meeting between these sides in November, Tottenham were top of the table.
Since then, City have taken 41 points from a possible 45 to take a decisive advantage in the title race.

In contrast, Spurs have now collected 16 points in 14 games and lost four games out of five in all competitions and remain in eighth.

On this evidence, few will give Mourinho any chance of overcoming Pep Guardiola at Wembley when these sides meet in the Carabao Cup final on 25 April.

Milan stunned by minnows Spezia

AC Milan missed the chance to extend their lead at the top of Serie A as Spezia recorded only the second Serie A home win in their history.

City rivals Inter will go top if they beat Lazio on Sunday - with the Milan derby next weekend.

Promoted Spezia, who were in the fourth tier in 2010, fully deserved their victory and move up to 14th.
Giulio Maggiore was unmarked to slot home from close range and Simone Bastoni blasted in a fine second.

It was only a third league defeat for Milan, who did not manage a shot on target.

They remain seven points above defending champions Juventus, who lost to Napoli earlier in the day.

Djokovic beats Fritz despite struggling with injury

Defending champion Novak Djokovic is unsure if he will be able to play in the fourth round of the Australian Open after he survived an injury scare to battle past American Taylor Fritz.

World number one Djokovic was hampered by a side injury that restricted his movement, although he still recorded a 7-6 (7-1) 6-4 3-6 4-6 6-2 victory.

Djokovic is set to meet 14th seed Milos Raonic in the next round, but said:
"I know it's a tear and I don't know if I will recover from that in two days. I don't know if I will step on court."
The Serb, who is chasing a record-extending ninth men's singles title in Melbourne and a third in a row, added:
"This is one of the most special wins in my life.
"It doesn't matter who I was up against or at what round, to pull this through is something I will remember for ever.
"In the third and fourth set I just served and couldn't do much with the returns. I was just putting in two first serves.
"I just tried to stay in there. I was hoping that whatever was happening was going to feel better and towards the end of the fourth it started to feel better."
Djokovic, who has been given the maximum time to recover after being scheduled to face Raonic as the final match on Rod Laver Arena on Sunday, skipped practice on Saturday.

Davis leads Los Angeles Lakers to seventh straight win

The Los Angeles Lakers recovered from an early 20-point deficit on Friday to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 115-105 and secure their seventh straight win.

Anthony Davis returned from two games out with Achilles soreness to score 35 points as the Lakers improved to 21-6.

LeBron James had 28 points for the Lakers, who have the second-best record in the NBA behind the Utah Jazz (21-5).

Four Jazz players scored at least 25 points as they beat the Milwaukee Bucks 129-115 for their sixth straight win.

Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo had a game-high 29 points in defeat for the Bucks, who slipped to a 16-10 record.
